None of us like to have weird smells in our house. This is especially the case in your kitchen since that is where you get your food from, but unfortunately, this is where they will pop up most often. Some of the obvious culprits are your garbage and your fridge, but there is one source that might not come to your mind that readily; the garbage disposal.
When running organic matter through your garbage disposal, some of it will inadvertently get stuck in the blades. When organic matter is left sitting for a while, it will start to rot and grow bacteria, causing it to smell.
How can you get rid of this smell? One good method is to run ice cubes though the garbage disposal. This will usually dislodge stuck food.
To prevent food from getting stuck in the first place, it is important to let the water run through the garbage disposal as you’re using it, and not stopping until a little time after it sounds like it is done.
