There’s nothing quite like some delicious Kentucky-style barbecue! Enjoying time in the backyard with good friends and tasty food fresh off the grill is one of the best parts of life. Before you fire up that grill, though, there are some questions you should ask yourself to ensure that you’re using your grill as safely as possible. Here are a couple of questions we’d suggest:
- When was the last time I took a close look at the condition of my grill? This is especially important for gas grills since there are additional parts like hoses and seals to check. Make sure there’s no damage before you use them!
- Is there sufficient space around my grill? More conservative estimates suggest keeping 10 feet between your grill and the nearest building, but 3 feet may be a good minimum to avoid damage from smoke and radiant heat.
- Is my grill clean? Stuck food or filled grease traps are the perfect fuel for fire flare-ups.
