There are probably some pretty heavy pieces of furniture in your home. This can be a problem if you have young children at home. Many young ones are hurt when they try to climb furniture. A heavy dresser that falls on a child can cause a lot of damage, even death.
So what can you do to keep your children safe? The solution is to install a tip-over bracket. Often you will find these included with larger pieces of furniture, but if not, you could obtain them fairly inexpensively. Naturally, the installation of the bracket needs to be done right for it to function properly. If at all possible the point you want it attached to should be a stud. You need to remember that this bracket needs to be able to hold the combined weight of a piece of furniture and a child.
If you have no choice but to attach it to drywall, you should use an anchor that is rated for a large weight, and you might even want to use two brackets.
You should also make sure the bracket is connected to a sturdy part of the furniture, since it could come loose on that end as well.
