Is there formaldehyde in your home? You might not think so, but you could be surprised. Formaldehyde has been used in insulation, glues, pressed wood, and fabrics, and sometimes without any way for you to find out. Usually, the smell of formaldehyde will be noticeable if it is at a high enough level to be harmful, but this doesn’t mean that it can’t have an effect on the air quality in your home. You might notice this from reactions your body might have. It can make you feel fatigued, or you could have allergy-like symptoms, such as itchy eyes, throat, or nose.
If you do notice a chemical smell in your home, it might be worth it to figure out what is causing it. If it is something that you could remove from your home, you will notice a difference fairly quickly once you get some fresh air in there.
