When you find bugs in your home, you usually suspect that they come in from your doors or windows, but did you know that you could have bugs coming out of your sewer?
Sewer gnats are tiny little insects that look a lot like a fruit fly, but they are different in some ways. Their wings are darker, and when you swat at them, they leave behind a dark powder.
Sewer gnats, like their name implies, live in your sewer, and they can be notoriously difficult to get rid of. Their nests can even survive having bleach and boiling hot water poured down the line.
While they are harmless, it is very annoying to have these bugs flying around in your home.
So, what can you do to get their nests out of your sewer? You need a mechanical cleaning, using a sewer snake or something similar that will dislodge their nests and let you flush them down the sewer.
