It might have been quite a while since you had people staying over in your home. The ongoing pandemic has limited travel and in-person visits, but something that you might not have thought of is what this means for your guest bathroom.
Bathrooms are designed to be used, and having one sitting unused for a long period of time could cause some issues. For example, the water in your p-traps does evaporate over time, so if no one ran water down the sink and flushed the toilet in a while, you might have dangerous sewer gas leaking into your home. It might be a good idea to schedule a flush on your maintenance schedule.
Another thing that is not quite as harmful, but quite the turnoff for any guests that you will have, is the buildup of dust. Even if you aren’t going in and out of the room, dust still floats in, and no guest would like to be in a bathroom that looks like it belongs in an abandoned building. Before you have guests over, give your guest bathroom a good checkup to make sure it’s going to reflect well on you.
