In recent years, radiant floor heating has become more and more common. It’s a particularly good option for homes in the southern states since the heating system likely won’t need to be used as much as it is in other states. Radiant floor heating allows for efficient heating of a home without all the unsightly vents or heating elements found in other more traditional heating systems.
The downside to radiant floor heating, though, is that it can be tricky to diagnose or repair issues since the heating elements are underneath your flooring. However, tricky does not mean impossible. It is possible to diagnose common radiant floor heating issues without ripping up the flooring. Using an infrared camera, a professional home inspector can see which heating elements are colder or hotter than the others. This means you can easily see which elements underneath your flooring may need repair or replacement without tearing up your floorboards.
