CO detectors are by far one of the most important safety items in your home. Too often on a home inspection do you find that there are no CO detectors at all. Or just as bad, they have one, but it is missing batteries, or is not mounted, or even in a drawer. But why is it so important that CO detectors be in the home and be properly mounted?
CO (carbon monoxide) is a colorless and odorless substance that kills thousands of people every year. It comes from our heating units, water heaters, fireplaces, and other sources. Since we need heat and hot water, we need to be careful about carbon monoxide as well.
So check your home to make sure your detectors work, that there are enough of them, and that you and your family are safe.
